NAB 2011: Tightrope’s ZEPLAY Provides Multichannel Replay

ZEPLAY, a broadcast multichannel replay platform from Tightrope Media Systems, features an eight-channel server with four inputs and four outputs active at all times. Slated to be demonstrated at the NAB in April, It is available in both HD and SD models, the HD system providing support for 480i, 720p, and 1080i resolution. Storage capacity is 40/80 hours SD/HD per channel, 160/320 hours total. ZEPLAY records and plays I-frame-only MPEG-2 video at 4:2:2 and 100 Mbps per channel in HD, 50 Mbps in SD. Slow motion is via adjustable frame-blending.

The unit provides macro-programmable GPI inputs and outputs, so that it can run tallies and integrate with an existing production system. Inputs and outputs comprise four HD/SD-SDI with embedded audio and four two-channel AES/EBU; HD-SDI is optional on the 8440SD.

The controller is built for replays, with a tactile jog/shuttle wheel and 20 quick-tag keys for marking plays. A built-in multiviewer eliminates the need for dedicated monitors for the replay operator.
