Harris Exhibiting Broadcast Workflow Evolution at CAPER 2012
Story Highlights
Harris Broadcast Communications is emphasizing flexibility for broadcasters at CAPER 2012 (Centro Costa Salguero, Buenos Aires, Booth H-30) this week as the company introduces two key new products to Latin American audiences.
“Broadcasters today need more flexibility to build the media workflows that best fit their operations today, with the freedom to easily change and expand systems as their broadcast and media requirements change,” said Nahuel Villegas, vice president, Caribbean and Latin America sales and services, Harris Broadcast Communications. “The ongoing digital transition throughout Argentina and greater Latin America makes CAPER an ideal venue to demonstrate our latest media workflow solutions, and the benefits of having such flexibility in the digital broadcast environment.”
Harris will show its Versio channel-in-a-box solution to Latin America audiences for the first time. Versio is delivering the industry’s most complete all-in-one solution to help customers rapidly launch, expand and sustain on-air TV channels and services while strengthening revenue growth and protection.
Versio combines baseband video, channel branding and graphics, and automated workflow capabilities in an easy-to-deploy, software-based, single-rack-unit solution. Versio significantly reduces the cost and time to launch broadcast, cable and other TV channels and services while offering simple integration with production, traffic and billing, scheduling, asset management, content playout and master control functions. This allows broadcasters to take full advantage of existing facility workflows for maximum return on investment.
Broadcasters also have the freedom to use either on-board server and automation features or integrate Versio with external server and automation components — a key differentiator from competitive solutions. This gives broadcasters the opportunity to build the workflows that work best for their operations.
Harris will also demonstrate its latest Invenio Motion release, which transforms media asset management from a device-centric process into an enterprise resource management operation. This revolutionary progression enables media organizations to fully maximize the value of content production, management and usage across the workflow.
Invenio Motion integrates multiple functions to track, manage and execute workflow activities, along with the unique capability to quantify the value of how every task correlates across the workflow. Essentially, it consolidates multiple asset management tasks within its engine, bringing together many transcoding and storage options, for example — including long-term tape library archives.
Users can add, configure and manage devices, assign tasks to personnel, and track projects from inception to completion. This allows organizations to gather detailed information tied to project length, associated costs and other performance-related factors to determine the efficiency of their operations — and clarity on how to improve.
