Level 3 Launches New Foundation, Enhances Global Connectivity for Customers
Story Highlights
Level 3 has launched the Level 3 Foundation Inc. . The Foundation was established to amplify the efforts of Level 3 Cares, the company’s corporate social responsibility program that launched in 2012, and give back to the communities where its employees live and work.
“The Foundation marks a new milestone in our commitment to our local communities,” says Laurinda Pang, chief administrative officer of Level 3 and vice president of the Foundation. “We are looking toward a broader notion of social responsibility. The Foundation reflects our core values and is intended to have a meaningful effect in the communities our employees call home.”
The mission of the Foundation is to provide employees and community members the opportunity to be kind to their neighbors and share in the company’s commitment to giving back. Both company employees and community members can contribute financially to the Foundation to support any of the identified cause areas: animal welfare, arts and culture, disaster relief, education, health and disease, natural environment and the underprivileged. Level 3 will match up to $250,000 of all employee contributions made to the Level 3 Foundation this year.
Level 3 believes a company culture based on core values not only helps its business, but also defines the role it can play in society. These core values – accountability, integrity, performance, respect, service and teamwork – helped lay the groundwork for the Foundation and its mission.
The Foundation’s Board of Directors is comprised of three members, Tom Stortz, president and Chairman of the Board, Laurinda Pang, vice president, and Sondra Smith, secretary.
Verne Global Works with Level 3 to Provide New Global Connectivity for Customers
Verne Global has turned to Level 3 Communications to implement an Internet Protocol (IP)-driven Point-of-Presence (PoP) in Iceland. The collaboration will help meet demand from Verne Global’s customers to connect to more than 40 new countries accessible through direct connectivity to Level 3’s global network.
Verne Global, with its carrier-neutral campus located in Iceland, is committed to offer customers connectivity on a worldwide scale. Level 3 served customers with Content Delivery Network (CDN) services via Reykjavik, but did not have an existing IP-driven PoP connecting to its global network in Iceland – leading both companies to explore how to connect the Level 3 infrastructure into Verne Global’s data centre campus.
Once the connection of the Level 3 network into Verne Global’s Iceland data centre campus is complete, Verne Global’s customers will be able to access Level 3’s global network and extensive portfolio of IP, Virtual Private Network, CDN, cloud and collaboration solutions.
Customers will also have multiple secure ways to connect to their international sites, selecting the cloud and data centre services that best fit their desired networking requirements. Because Verne Global’s connectivity will now be scalable with increased resiliency and decreased latency, customers will have access to a high-availability network solution able to run mission-critical applications both locally and globally.
“Enterprises are increasingly dependent on global connectivity to support their growth objectives, and having the right infrastructure in place to support this can make a significant difference to organisations’ bottom line,” says Andrew Crouch, Regional President, Level 3. ” We work with companies such as Verne Global to provide not only the global network infrastructure and solutions that businesses are demanding, but also an excellent customer experience.”
