German Production Company _wige GROUP Goes to the Cloud With Signiant
Story Highlights
When it comes to developing adrenaline-pumping motorsports content, few production companies across Europe do it better than Germany-based _wige GROUP.
The company specializes in motion-picture content for TV broadcasters and digital platforms, among many outlets. Working with clients and at events around the globe, _wige GROUP has made it a priority to invest in flexible, cost-efficient production workflows, especially when it comes to file transfer.
_wige GROUP has been a client of media-transport innovator Signiant for some time, having shifted from the old world of sending tapes via the mail to switching in 2012 to an IP, file-based transport system with Signiant’s Media Exchange platform.
Now _wige GROUP is going even deeper with its relationship with Signiant, adding the Web-browser–based Media Shuttle to its operations and even adjusting from a more traditional, on-premises file-transfer solution to cloud-based SaaS software.
“We wanted to use a very professional solution for our distribution,” says Jukka Lampo, distribution manager, _wige GROUP, “because it is guaranteed to be running fast and our customers can download their files very fast.”
Using Media Shuttle, _wige GROUP has made it possible for customers to receive their content more quickly, which has, in turn, enabled _wige GROUP to incorporate more content into simultaneous broadcast schedules.
“In the sports-broadcast industry, timeliness is essential,” says Lampo in an official release. “Signiant has completely revolutionized how we send large files, from physically mailing tapes to sending large files in under an hour.”
