The Great Lakes Valley Conference Adds SlingStudio as Presenting Sponsor of 2017 GLVC Kickoff Event

The Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) and Sling Media L.L.C., a subsidiary of DISH Network, announced that SlingStudio was the presenting sponsor of the 2017 GLVC Football Kickoff event, which took place on the campus of McKendree University on Friday, July 28.  This year’s event was formally known as the 2017 GLVC Football Kickoff powered by SlingStudio.

SlingStudio is an  affordable, wireless, portable multi-camera production solution that lets users of all skill levels record, monitor and edit four HD video inputs from up to 10 connected cameras and smartphones. SlingStudio can output live video to streaming services like Facebook Live, YouTube and BlueFrame Technology’s Production Truck software, and simultaneously record to a USB hard drive, USB SSD or SD card for post-production.

The technology will be used during the 90-minute formal press conference on the GLVC Sports Network (GLVCSN), where two student-athletes and the head coach from each of the league’s eight football teams will discuss the upcoming season in 10-minute rotations.
SlingStudio will provide fans the opportunity to have a live look-in at other stations during the event where teams are producing content for various social media platforms.

“We are thrilled to partner with Sling Media and have the opportunity to showcase this innovative product on the GLVC Sports Network at the 2017 GLVC Football Kickoff powered by Sling Studio,” said GLVC Commissioner Jim Naumovich.  “We strive to stay on the leading edge of streaming and align ourselves with companies and products that will enhance the coverage of Conference events and championships.  SlingStudio serves as a great solution for our member institutions looking to expand their streaming efforts on GLVCSN.”

SlingStudio captured video from different angles by wirelessly connecting up to 10 video sources (DSLR cameras, video cameras, smartphones, personal computers, etc.) to a single SlingStudio hub using its private, video-grade Wi-Fi network.  Internet connectivity was not required, and the wireless transmissions eliminated the need to run cabling up to 400 feet.

The SlingStudio hub currently retails for $999 at B&H Photo Video or directly from Sling Media.  Accessories include a CameraLink ($349 each), battery ($149) and a USB-C Expander ($49).
