Job Opening: FSU’s Seminole Productions Seeking Producer/Editor

Seminole Productions, which is an Auxiliary Unit of Florida State University’s College of Communication, is currently accepting applications for a Producer/Editor position. 

Under the direction of the Senior Director and Executive Producer, the selected candidate assists in the development, production and distribution of Broadcast Programming, specifically Seminole Sports Magazine (SSM), a 30 minute Sports Magazine show devoted to FSU Athletics. The candidate will also be heavily engaged in the leveraging, re-purposing, and reformatting of assets created by Seminole Productions to new media delivery channels.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: student instruction, logistical planning for production of TV shows against sensitive timelines; teaching assistant in Advanced Sports Production class at FSU, shooting and acquisition of athletic contests, interviews, sound bites, etc.  Candidate will produce, coordinate, and execute recordings of television shows, interviews, press conferences, etc., to include directing, set-up, lighting, sound, and camera operations; and work with FSU athletic staff towards the creation, planning, and execution of video features and content for various media distribution.

Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two (2) years of appropriate experience.  Prefer hands-on experience producing engaging content for coaches shows and traditional sports television programming; demonstrated experience with professional and broadcast-level video acquisition and production tools (i.e.  cameras, switchers, CG’s, media recorders, and editors)  hands-on  experience  creating  media  for  web  and   other   new   media delivery channels; and excellent organizational, attention to detail, written and verbal communication skills with proficiency on computer applications to execute and deliver completed projects within time-sensitive deadlines.

Experience with Cinema, VFR, DSLR and Panasonic P2 cameras and equipment, EditShare Server, Avid Media Composer Non-linear Editing Systems, and/or Adobe Creative Suite including After Effects, Photoshop, Premiere and other image productions software also preferred. As a staff member of Seminole Productions, the selected candidate will be a person of integrity and character who is able and willing to work non-traditional hours (nights, weekends) to produce television shows to high industry standards.
