AES@NAMM Pro Sound Symposium: Live & Studio Training Academy Offers Attendees Multiple Audio Experiences
Story Highlights
This year’s AES@NAMM Pro Sound Symposium: Live & Studio is set to bring the best in practical audio engineering education and insights to attendees at all experience levels. Taking place concurrently with The NAMM Show, January 24 – 27 in Anaheim, CA, this year’s AES@NAMM sessions will offer specialized Line Array Loudspeaker System Academy and Live Mixing Console Academy events giving attendees hands-on training with the latest technologies in sound reinforcement. Industry experts from leading brands Allen & Heath, Bose Professional, JBL, VUE Audiotechnik, and Yamaha will be on hand to lead the interactive training sessions. Pre-registration for AES@NAMM Hands-On Training Academies is required for guaranteed seating.
Line Array Loudspeaker System Academy
Taking place all four days of AES@NAMM, the Line Array Loudspeaker System Academy offers an expert-guided introduction and interactive experience with line array technologies design, setup, and implementation. Each of the presenting manufacturers will hold two-to-three-hour classroom intro-and-overview sessions of the featured line array technology, teaching the line array’s design, theory, and supporting software components in a small-group classroom format. A companion practical application session instructs mechanical assembly and electrical hook-up details for erecting an array from a portable line array tower, culminating in system proof and coverage confirmation with the use of pink noise and an evaluation track of music. Sessions for each of the four days feature the Bose ShowMatch, JBL VTX A8, and VUE Audiotechnik al-Class Line Array technologies.
Live Mixing Console Academy
The AES@NAMM Live Mixing Console Academy, also running all four days, will offer attendees a chance to interface with leading live digital console manufacturers and participate in hands-on operation of digital mixers and their latest software offerings and updates. Sessions hosted by Allen and Heath and presented by industry veteran Michael Bangs (Katy Perry, Eric Clapton, Aerosmith) include practical training such as the dLive House of Worship Masterclass, dLive Festival Mixing Masterclass, and dLive Monitor Mixing Masterclass. Additional sessions from Allen & Heath offer dLive Certification and a console training session presented in Spanish.
Yamaha will also hold a complete schedule of Live Mixing Console Academy events featuring its RIVAGE PM10 and CL Series digital mixing consoles with hosts Chip Allen and Chris Hinson. Thursday and Friday will focus on the RIVAGE PM10 console, with sessions including an operational overview, presentations from guest speaker Scott Baldwin (FOH Engineer for Prince, The Fray, Lady Gaga, and more) and a mixing lab both days. Saturday and Sunday will offer an in-depth look at the CL Series with sessions including an operational overview, mixing labs, and practical presentations for both beginning and advanced mixers for getting the most from their console and workflow.
