Chicago Red Stars, Univision Chicago Come Together to Televise Exclusive Spanish-Language Broadcast During Hispanic Heritage Month

The Chicago Red Stars of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) and Univision Chicago have announced a first-time partnership that will deliver special Spanish-language coverage of the club’s Saturday, September 25 (7 p.m. CDT) match versus the Portland Thorns to fans in the Chicago-land area on UniMás TV and TUDN, Univision Sports Radio WRTO 1200 AM.

“The Red Stars are dedicated to providing a world-class soccer and entertainment experience for all Chicagoans, including the thousands of Latinx residents in and around the city,” says Vicky Lynch Chief Business Officer for the Chicago Red Stars. “Univision’s expansive experience broadcasting soccer matches makes them an ideal partner in helping us to continue growing our connection with the local Latinx community.”

In addition to offering fans at home a Spanish-language broadcast experience, the Red Stars will celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month at SeatGeek Stadium with activations for fans attending the September 25th game. In the weeks preceding the game, Red Stars players will appear across Univision Chicago television and radio programming to promote the upcoming game and educate fans on the league and the Red Stars franchise.

“The Chicago Red Stars play an exciting brand of soccer and we are honored to be bringing women’s soccer action to our fans on both television and radio,” says Doug Levy, President & General Manager, Univision Chicago. “With this partnership, the Red Stars join a robust and growing portfolio of local Chicago professional sports on Univision Local Media.”
